My journey is one of resilience, growth, and a commitment to empowering others. Raised in the Central Valley near Fresno within a vibrant Hispanic and Latinx community, I carry forward the values of diversity, family, and hard work. Now based in Sacramento with roots that extend to Fresno and Los Angeles, I balance the energy of city life, the calm of smaller towns, and the peace that comes from spending time near the ocean.
As someone in the disability community, I experienced learning, mental health, and physical challenges that shaped my outlook. Those experiences created a strong foundation of perseverance and advocacy. They continue to guide my work in education, workforce development, and community leadership.
A pivotal chapter of my story began after high school when I attended the Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities. That experience introduced me to disability history, leadership, and a network of peers and mentors who were thriving in their own communities. I returned several times in different roles and helped support youth organizing efforts and the establishment of Disability History Week in California.
Over more than sixteen years in nonprofit leadership and program management, I supported young people with disabilities, individuals facing barriers to employment, and foster youth. I worked directly with families, guided workforce programs, and contributed to statewide and national boards that influence disability policy and practice. My work has included mentoring, program development, operations management, and community based collaboration.
While I do not hold a formal college degree, my professional path has been defined by leadership and impact. I have managed federally funded programs, supported staff development, advised policymakers, and built partnerships that created real opportunities for the communities I serve.
Family remains at the center of my life. My support system includes both relatives and chosen family who inspire me, travel with me, and help shape my purpose. I honor my heritage, reflect on where I come from, and use the lessons of my lived experience to create more inclusive spaces.
My vision is to help build communities that are accessible, welcoming, and responsive to the needs of the whole person. I remain dedicated to inclusion, equity, and meaningful connection. I look forward to continuing this work and contributing to lasting positive change.
