I provide one on one coaching to adults with developmental disabilities, supporting them in building life skills, confidence, and independence. My work includes teaching daily living skills, developing personalized learning plans, and helping clients navigate health care, community resources, and public transit. I collaborate closely with families, service coordinators, and community partners to ensure each client’s goals are supported in a consistent and respectful way.

I managed a federally funded WIOA Youth Program serving youth with disabilities and youth experiencing homelessness. I oversaw program operations, supervised staff, and handled compliance, data reporting, and grant deliverables. I developed services that helped young people prepare for education, training, and long term employment. I also built partnerships with employers, agencies, and community organizations to expand opportunities and strengthen participant outcomes.

I supported students with intellectual disabilities as they explored careers, built employment skills, and entered the workforce. I facilitated job readiness workshops, coordinated employment labs, and collaborated with faculty and campus departments. I built relationships with community employers to create competitive, integrated employment opportunities aligned with student goals.

I managed the Office Support and Visitation Department and served on the agency’s Leadership Development Team. I supervised staff, oversaw daily operations, maintained confidential records, and ensured program workflows remained efficient and safe. I conducted family intake interviews, coordinated visitation services, and prepared court ready documentation. During the agency’s closure, I led the transition of case files, staff departures, and the sale of agency assets.

APRIL 2008 – JANUARY 2011 (& Youth Lead Advocate Volunteer between 2005-2008)
I coordinated the annual Youth Leadership Forum for Students with Disabilities, supporting more than 60 delegates and 50 staff each year. I co founded the YLF Alumni Alliance and provided statewide technical assistance to Independent Living Centers that were developing youth programs. I organized cross disability events for thousands of participants and helped create the Youth Organizing Disabled and Proud (YO!) program. I also contributed to statewide advocacy that resulted in the establishment of Disability History Week in California.
State Special Education Workgroup (2021)
Alternate Pathways to a High School Diploma – Workgroup Member
Collaborated with the Sacramento County Office of Education, the California Department of Education, and statewide partners to develop recommendations that expanded diploma access for students with disabilities. Contributed to statewide discussions on improving IEP processes and alternative graduation pathways.
Consultant & Speaker Presenter (February 2010 – 2016)
Leadership and Disability Empowerment
Delivered workshops, trainings, and keynote presentations on disability rights, youth leadership, and independent living. Partnered with schools, nonprofits, and government agencies to promote inclusion, self advocacy, and employment readiness. Facilitated interactive sessions that supported youth in building confidence, life skills, and civic engagement. Shared lived and professional experience to mentor emerging leaders statewide and nationally.
California State Independent Living Council (February 2008 – February 2014)
Council Member, Gubernatorial Appointment (2 Consecutive Terms)
Appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger for two consecutive terms to represent youth with disabilities on the statewide independent living council. Contributed to the development and oversight of the State Plan for Independent Living. Advised policymakers, state agencies, and community stakeholders to advance equity in education, employment, and community living.
Association of Programs for Rural Independent Living (2012 – 2015)

Served on the national board of APRIL, a grassroots organization supporting rural independent living centers. Guided the development of the Youth Peer to Peer Program and mentored young adults with disabilities across the country. Strengthened outreach to rural communities through program design, accessibility strategies, and leadership development efforts.

Provided the youth perspective to the California State Board of Education on special education policy. Reviewed statewide education programs and recommended improvements in inclusive instruction, transition services, and IEP development. Helped shape recommendations that supported stronger outcomes for students with disabilities.
National Council on Disability (2007 – 2008)

An advisory body required by federal law to provide recommendations and advice
Served on a federal advisory committee providing recommendations to the President and Congress. Advised on national disability policy related to education, civil rights, and employment. Elevated youth perspectives in federal decision making and collaborated with young leaders nationwide to identify systemic barriers and propose solutions.

Appointed Student Trustee for Reedley College
Represented the student body on the district Board of Trustees, participating in discussions on budgets, policies, accessibility, and student services. Served as a liaison between students and district leadership, advocating for resources and opportunities that supported academic and personal success.
